Derrick May serves as the president and chief executive officer of Optimum Energy Partners LLC, an independent oil and natural gas company based in Dallas, Texas, which specializes in the acquisition, exploration, and production of energy resources. Under his leadership, Optimum has successfully participated in over 100 wells—with more than 60 drilled and producing consecutively. The company partners with industry giants, ensuring credibility and strong investment opportunities. In 2024 alone, Optimum distributed over $7.5 million in returns to investors.
In April 2021, Derrick assumed leadership of Optimum; he leverages over 21 years of industry experience, having demonstrated expertise across various roles in private equity, investment banking, and company management. His background in financial analysis and portfolio management has cultivated a passion for alternative investments and portfolio diversification, positioning him as a thought leader in the energy sector.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Derrick advocates for women’s empowerment through his role as an ambassador for Girl Power USA. Balancing his career and personal life, he is a dedicated father to two daughters and loves spending quality time with them. He enjoys playing tennis, hockey, and softball, applying the principles of teamwork and strategy from sports to business leadership.
